In our home I am lucky enough to have a spare room that functions as a guest bedroom/ doggy room/ storage closet... but mainly my makeup room :) Today at the dollar store I saw several fun false lash sets and it reminded me of some cosmetic themed watercolor paintings I had seen at a home decor store. These aren't the exact ones I saw but similar enough to give you the idea.
So with a little inspiration I decided to make some fun DIY framed makeup items.
First I gathered some plain white, printer paper. Kitchen shears because they were handy. (& I actually made these at 3am during a sleepless bout of anxiety) My recent Dollar Tree lash & frame purchases. & a gold marker I previously picked up from Targets One Spot.
I used the stock image sheet to cut the correct size white background. I cut out a few to have a test run, and spares in case I needed to start over. I then opened all the lashes and gently removed them from the plastic base. These are pretty fragile compared to standard falsies, so I recommend a light touch so they don't get stuck together or bent weird. I then laid them out and decided to only use 5 of the 6 sets I purchased.
I used the gold marker and picked a descriptive word I thought suited the lash. Once I was happy with the placement, I gently pressed the 2 ends to the paper to keep a curve to the lashes. These are pretty firm and hard to get into a nice soft curve. (to break up the firmness of the band, try rocking the lash in your hands. Holding one end of the strip in each hand & arcing it back and forth) I did the best my 3am self could; the top and bottom sets gave me the most grief.
For my second frame I pulled out all my lip products, which isn't much. I simply put on a bunch of different shades and gave the white background a smooch. I originally planned on writing "smooch" across the paper but decided against it in the end.
Everything I own for lips fits in this small tray. I have quite thin, small lips and everything I put on, with even the slightest pigment, makes me feel like a clown. Most of these items I've received in cosmetic sets or as free samples.
Once applied I gave the paper on the right a big ol' wet one and then gave the second sheet another to wear off the excess. I think if you alternated some fresh/dark and some worn off/light you could easily have 2 lovely images.
If curious here's the items I used.
Here are the 2 finished and framed items. This only cost me $7 due to using some items I already had on hand.
& here's them hung in my makeup room :)
