Lazy Girl Beauty Hacks

The following things are hacks I actually use on, a more regular than I'd normally care to admit basis.

Eye Liner:
As you suck down your morning caffeine fix sometimes your hands get a little shaky or you're like me and cant ever get a straight line to save your life.

I start with a felt tip marker style liner pen. To fix my less than perfect eye liner, I grab a flat liner brush (like this one from elf) and some black shadow(or brown if you prefer) to not only set my liner but gently smudge it out to hide any imperfections.

Bonus tip: If you haven't tried white liner on your bottom water line yet, do it! It really wakes up tired eyes.

Mascara:
If your tube of mascara is starting to dry out before you can make it to the store, try adding a bit of saline solution (like contact solution). Roll tube in your hands or shake, and good as new.

Brows:
Tame wild brows with your finger and hairspray. Just spray on the tip of your finger and smooth brows into place.

Hair:

Can't find a shower cap, & don't feel like washing your hair. #1. Dry shampoo & teasing. That is all. #2. Make a quick hair turbon with the shirt you're wearing. It's not totally waterproof but it's better than nothing. Keep your head in the head hole, but instead of putting your arms in just pull it up and twist around your hair, tuck twisted end under neckband.

My Go To 5* Minute Routine
*(to 10 minute, because lets me honest..sometimes I fall into that dazed, transe where you just freeze for a few minutes)

Concealer, Foundation, Shadow, Eyeliner, & Mascara.
Boom
Out the door.

My lazy shadow choice is Maybeline's Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze. I smudge this everywhere and gently fade it towards my brow bone.

End of the Day: Already in bed? Too lazy to get up and wash your face? Keep makeup removing wipes in your bedside table.

National Coffee Day: Pumpkin Spice Everything

In honor of  Nation Coffee Day, a post about the most popular coffee drink flavor of the season, Pumpkin Spice. As I enjoy E!'s Sex in the City marathon and drink my umpteenth cup of coffee lets explore a few fall themed products, shall we?

The pumpkin spice craze is expanding its grasp each year. And I have fallen under its spell. Here's a look at my favorite autumn themed products, my least favorite, and the most "Are you serious right now" items.

Now as you might now, I'm attempting to change my eating habits with the help of Weight Watchers, when it comes to a treat I can actually enjoy... I reach for are 2PP, Fiber One 90 Calorie bar, the Pumpkin Bar ones aren't bad but the pumpkin flavor doesn't surface until your very last bite and leaves me feeling a bit jipped. Now the Cinnamon Coffee Cake bars, are very tasty. I absolutely love these, and luckily we can enjoy them all year round.

Unfortunatly for me Starbuck's Pumpkin Spice doesn't come in a sugar free version yet, so I only get to enjoy a nice PSL a few times a season, when I'm feeling extra splurgey.

These M&Ms Pumpkin Spice Latte are pretty good, but it wouldn't be the first thing I'd reach for. The flavor sneaks up on your and has a nice nutmeg/clove taste.

If calories are no problem then look no further because these are AMAZING! I ate all 4 and didn't even feel that guilty about it. Kimberley's Bakeshoppe Pumpkin Spice cupcakes can be found at Fred Meyers & probably other grocery stores. As if the amount of cream cheese frosting on top isn't enough, there's more in the middle. So tread lightly. Only consume if you have a major sweet tooth.

One more shameful treat. It's been since last year that I had these but I still remember them a year later so they must be great right!! The Pepperidge Farm Pumpkin Cheesecake Cookies are YUM, YUM, YUM.

The main thing I purchased this year to celebrate fall: Candles. If you can't eat it, smell it!! I made a big Scentsy order and a few other candle purchases.
I picked up this Whiskey & Oak candle from Fred Meyer's something about it screamed, "Cozy den, fire burning, snuggly plaid throw blanket, and a good book." ;) My husband has actually claimed it and keeps it in his office, it burns very nicely and quickly fills the room with fragrance. Not to mention the container is absolutely adorable!!

The second candle is a Diamond Candle, each candle comes with a ring & you have a chance at a second ring worth $100 to $1000. They are quite fun, this one is Harvest Blend and I purchased it a few years ago and its just about on its last leg. This season will most likely be its last. I've purchased a few of these candles and only received $10 rings. I am also too impatient to let it burn down to the ring and end up digging it out.

I picked up 10 autumn themed or cinnamon based bars:
Autumn Sunrise, Autumn Sunset, Pumpkin Roll, Apple Smores, Cinnamon Vanilla, Sticky Cinnamon Bun, Honey Pear Cider, Cider Mill, Cedar Cider, and Welcome Home.

My only beef with melting bars, they don't last very long. Perhaps I just become used to the smell but they only smell up the house for a day or 2.

I also picked up a few of these Fresh Scent Sachets, I love these for sticking in the closet or car. They last a pretty long time too! They come in a 3 pack for $4.99 and you can pick them up at Michael's.

WTF Category:
Now maybe I am wrong because apparently tons of people like pumpkin spice yogurt, and this sounds like it would be similar if not slightly better. But as a person with a slight yogurt texture issue this sounds terrible.

Again, I could be wrong. Many people love sweet potatoes and this is probably right up their alley. However I like my potato chips flavored after savory things like...oh I don't know, Cheese!!

Speaking of savory, when I think of sausage & fall... things like bacon wrapped smokies and crock pot cheesy sausage and potatoes. This is perhaps the grossest sounding thing I have heard!! Yes, you read that correctly. Pumpkin Spice Chicken Sausage.

I'm sure I'll find more and revisit this subject before the season ends.

Halloween Nails

As I sit here and enjoy an early morning Friday the 13th marathon, a cup of joe, and whats left of my weekend. I can't help but feel like revisiting my favorite Halloween nails from years past.

New Home Tour: Goals

Rental after rental, finally I have a place I can color and change. I can do whatever I want. (Insert evil laugh here) Though it may take a while for me to find the funds to tackle these projects, here's my goals:

Living Room:
I really want to add a fireplace. Who doesn't want a mantle to hand their stockings and crackling fire to curl up next to with a warm beverage and a good read. In the area we live we are part of  an H.O.A. and the cost is absolutely astronomical for a vented standard fireplace. Therefore, I'm thinking an electric fireplace with a stone surround will fit the bill.

We have this awkward corner in the living room, that is currently home to an over sized, cruddy recliner. The dogs have absolutely destroyed the seat, and I'm just looking for a good excuse to get rid of it. I can't quite decide if I would rather it in the corner or all the way up to our vaulted ceiling.

Here's a few more pictures from Pinterest of the look I want most.
Corner:

If we went with the corner, I'm not sure how we would deal with the plant shelf above and the top of the surround. Also we would have to run electrical into the corner.

Wall:

Up the wall would be the easiest to achieve, slightly more expensive because of the extra stone. Plus to not leave the corner completely useless I could add some short bookcases.

Laundry:
Currently we have zero storage in our laundry area. Our laundry is tucked into a small space between the garage and the kitchen, this space also houses our pantry. We at the very least need to install some cabinets. When we purchased our washer & dryer, my husband insisted on top loaders. We had too many stories about moldy front loads to make that mistake. Though they are beautiful aren't they!

As much I love the look of clean white cabinets in the laundry, the rest of our house cabinetry is a medium tone wood grain. I really want an area to hang some clothes, a cabinet or 2 to store all detergents & such. And a shelf above the machines so clothing can't slip behind, because who doesn't love contorting your body in order to grab whats fallen behind. Only to find socks and underwear that have become part of the dust bunny family living back there.

Hallway:
We have one long wall that runs from the living room back to the bedrooms, forming a semi-hall. I love the look of wainscoting and would love to add a touch to this wall. However, I have the darnedest time figuring out how to end it at the corner and I'm not sure I want it to wrap the whole room.

Husband's Office:
For the hubby's office I want to go for a rustic industrial vibe and use a color pallet that pays homage to his favorite NFL team, the 49ers. I don't have any photos of his current office, because like most men, he's a slob kabob.

Kitchen/ Add Formal Dinning Room:
I would love to have a formal dinning room, almost all of these cookie cutter new construction homes have little to know eating area. Right now we have our dinning table pushed up against the wall to maximize the space in our kitchen. If we were to blow out the wall in the dinning room we could add a bit more cabinetry to the kitchen, perhaps even a small homework desk or coffee bar.

I have a lot of ideas for when it comes to the dinning room. If we were too add the dinning room, I would widen the existing window to create the entrance. I would love to add whatever these half walls are called ;),with storage and pillars.

Inside the dinning room, I would like to have more wainscoting, a bay window, & enough space for our table, my china hutch, and a buffet. I think I would really like to go with a color similar to that pictured with the buffet and red lamp. A darker khaki green to pull from the kitchen decor. The way our house sits very little natural light comes in and adding this bay window idea would hopefully create and airy bright dinning space.

Master Bathroom:
This one is a little far fetched & most likely won't happen, but a girl can dream egh?!
I would love to reconfigure our master bathroom to include a steam shower.
I originally thought that I would be smart to add it into the existing closet, but lets be real... I need my closet. So perhaps we blow out the bathroom wall as well and add some square footage to the bathroom & closet as well :) Currently my husband is using the closet in his office for his clothes and it would be nice for him to share with me wouldn't it.

I would attempt to save all the existing furnishings to save a bit. I'm not sure how the configuration would work out. If we are somehow able to fit them side by side.
