I attended Cosmetology School from the end of 2012- early 2014. I attended a small Idaho school, so I’m sure given our area and limited exposure my training fell short on the hottest trends and newest techniques. However, I had the best time, with the neatest group of girls. (Baring a few) My trainers slowly worked us up from mani/pedis to thermal styling. Haircuts to hair color, I must admit the way the gradually added to our knowledge really suited me. Regardless I was extremely afraid of doing hair. (All the following photos are from while I was in beauty school)
Cutting my brothers long “Beiber Style” locks
Foils in a fellow students hair
We had an 80s theme for us early April babies, my look could be more 70s but I had fun with the high waisted acid wash and teased hair
I had only colored my hair once in my entire existence before school, and it didn’t got well. Surprisingly, I did quite well for being so scared. However, there came a point where the stress and anxiety I experienced before each client became too much of a burden.
Mani/Pedi from while in training. The toes were featured in Nail Pro magazine in the May 2013 issue.
Glittery Pink & White acrylics on a fellow student, with some rhinestones and stamping images.
I decided to focus on nail design once I entered my second professional year. Since getting my license, I’ve worked in two booth rental salons. I am not very happy with my current location (theft, personality clashing) I’m too afraid of appearing as a “salon hopper” and the possibility that the next place will be worse than the current.. So.. I’m persevering.
Long term I would like to renovate a small home or commercial building into a private salon of my own. Come back soon for more posts on all the fun designs and products I try out.
