I am lucky enough to have a room in our house that I can have a decent makeup desk. I used my thrifting skills to refinish some furniture for some decent storage.
The desk has layers upon layers of paint. It was a tan color when I brought it home, as I sanded it down I found blue with stars, then white with little rosettes, and finally a minty green. Unfortunately not all the paint would sand off. However, with the antiquing technique I used it doesn't jump out at you too bad. I chose to use white & silver tones so that it could match either the guest room or our bedroom. I sat a mirror I purchased from a yard sale on top, that just happened to fit perfectly!!

The side table I found at a yard sale & wanted to have a bit more color. It was an unfinished pine color when I picked it up. I knew either way it would be going into the guest room that is teals and whites. I used the same stencil to add a little detail. Hey, I'm the only one who sees it and I got the idea from a dresser I found on Pinterest.

On top of the side table I keep a necklace tree and an ear ring stand, as well as a small table lamp that I picked up from the D.I. and spray painted to match. The lamp shade was also a thrift find from the Idaho Youth Ranch. Also seen in the photo is my most recent Ipsy bag and a bottle of Bath & Body Works lotion.
Due to the coloring of our new house, I chose to adjust my guest bedroom color palette to teal, white, and browns. This glass shelf was just left from the previous occupants. I use it to have my most used accessories easy to find.

Top Shelf:The bracelet tree was picked up at the D.I. The trinket box from the Idaho Youth Ranch, DIY Tray stand, teal vase from Ross Dress for less, ring hand from Michaels, and peacock vase fillers.
Second Shelf: I used the same spray paint from the side table for the tiny frame and candle base. Two small votive holders hold stud earrings. Tray from the Dollar Tree holds sunglasses and a mercury glass Mason Jar, lastly a photo of my husband and I on our wedding day.
Bottom Shelf: I have an empty picture frame again painted to match side table. Empty Estee Lauder box with cute girly designs on the side & a Good Deed a Day book, my naked pallet boxes and 2 bottles of Designer Skin tanning lotion.
For an easy place to store and hang my hot curling irons I added to screws to the side of my desk that is less visible from the rest of the house.

The picture on the wall was painted by my mother in law, but its a copy of "In the Arms of Mary" by Simon Dewey. Bedding set was a steal for $5. We also keep our dog's crates in this room.

DIY Tray Stand
You'll need: 2 silver trays - Dollar Tree
2 clear crystal style handle holders - Dollar Tree
E6000 glue - Walmart or Michaels
Make sure all surfaces are very clean. Using the E6000 glue items together
(see Wendy's video for more details)

Please Note- This smells very strong, you'll want to let this dry for a few days somewhere out of the way so that the smell doesn't get to you.
